Open Question: Christians: is your choice of church as much social as...?

...as doctrinal? There's a commercial running on our local TV lately by a church, encouraging new people to arrive and experience a "warm, welcoming, active social group." So it made me curious... I must admit, I do miss the "social" aspect of church now and then. Sure, there was politics and talking behind backs, and I don't miss the peer pressure to conform...but every the activities and groups and friends and such was enjoyable. So do you decide on your congregation as much for social reasons as doctrinal/worship reasons?

Open Question: Atheists are you aware of the worldwide decline of Atheism?

Even in China. Less than 3% Worldwide. This is a big but. Take another look at this chart. It tallies how people identify themselves, not how they feel about God belief. According to people's possess self-identification, atheists actually muster a miserable 0.7 percent, beating the margin of mistake by a nose. Open Question: How does the government work in the United Kingdom?

I am a resident of the United Kingdom and thoroughly like politics. I am intrigued into the monarchy and believe in the restoration of more power to the monarch. I understand there are several sections of government. Local Council, home of Commons, home of Lords and the Monarch, or am I incorrect? What does the Prime Minister and his Cabinet of head ministers do? What power does the home of Lords now hold even after the Crisis of 1909-1911? What power does the monarch hold? Any more information on how the United Kingdom's government works will help me out. Unfortunately I do not take politics for my Advanced levels, yet I want to study History & Politics at university. Any help will be thoroughly appreciated. Thank you and good evening. Interesting answers... Not that I agree with one of them, but it is the only one that answers my question.

Open Question: Are Democrats being serious?? This is a joke right?

Republicans have started pointing out the fact that the Democratic party is very corrupt (which it is). Democrats are countering by saying basically 'well, we're not as corrupt as you'. (yes, Republicans were very corrupt when they controlled the govt. a few years ago) RECAP: BOTH major parties are VERY corrupt. THEN they [Democrats] went one step further and actually tried to defend their record in 2009. Unfortunately for those making that argument there's the inconvenient truth that 2009 was K-road's (the lobbyists) best year ever. Do Democrats just assume the public is dumb?? Are they below some delusion that makes them think we can't look them?? (Democrats are as well versed in "pay-to-play" politics as Republicans...........look no further than the stimulus or this healthcare bill) http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/03/dems-on-gop-ethics-charges-you-have-got-to-be-joking.php?ref=fpblg Democrats don't discount the fact that the Rangel debacle--and growing questions about Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) who resigned yesterday--are serious issues. But they note a couple significant differences: The Republican list of ethics problems was seemingly endless, and, unlike Democrats, the GOP actually tried to shield their members from repercussions. "We've made very, very substantial reforms in this Congress," said home Majority Leader Steny Hoyer at his weekly press conference today. "At the beginning of the 110th Congress--the last Congress--[we] banned gifts from lobbyists, prohibited use of corporate jets, mandated ethics training for every home employees, established an office of Congressional ethics, we ensured transparency for earmarks, requiring full disclosure of every bills and conference reports, forfeiture of pension and annuity for congressional service if a member is convicted of a serious crime, broader and more detailed disclosures of lobbying activities by paid lobbyists." Aides make the point more bluntly. "home Democrats have instituted strong new ethics, earmark and lobbying reforms to hold members of Congress accountable," says Doug Thornell, spokesman for Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), the sixth-ranking Democrat in the home. We have also reprimanded members who have been found to have broken the public's trust. I guess the GOP is hoping voters have short-term memory loss. When they were in the majority, a few years ago, they ran a 'pay to play' system with K road based out of their leadership offices, changed the rules to protect Tom Delay, and tried to cover-up the Foley scandal, among other things. They supported no meaningful reforms and in fact voted against many of the measures we passed last Congress. It's Official: 2009 Was Record Year For Lobbying, Despite Recession http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/12/its-official-2009-was-rec_n_460160.html john....................if you READ the link (you obviously didn't) it was simply citing a middle for Responsive Politics review of 2009 lobbying in the U.S. congress.

Open Question: Can you correct the grammar, please?

Even though the crusades were called “wars of religion” whose cause was the recovery of Jerusalem which was in the hands of the Muslims, and whose promoters belonged to the Western church, we cannot deny that pros and cons as regards economy, politics and culture that changed the lives of the Western and Eastern inhabitants. In the first place, we can refer to the economic growth of the main cities of Italy and the introduction of the oriental products as species and cloths, in Occident and the financial lost of the Greeks and Arabs. With reference to the politics, not only did the government face external conflicts, but other internal problems like the weakness of the feudal system and the development of a class of free peasants and merchant princes. Finally, as it was clarified previously in the paper, the fact that two cultures intermingled made that the customs of one of the societies began to be part of the other one. As we have seen, every these events changed the lives and customs of the inhabitants and governments of whom took part in the Crusades, that’s why, we cannot say that they were only a religious matter.

Open Question: How can I forward Harmful antisemitic, Yahoo! Answers e-mail to staff. Is there an address?

to which I can forward two messages from a former contact I hooked up to in Politics? I am a conservative, He seems to be an Aryan. confused that I might go along with it, he sent me these two emails. I have no tolerance for that sort of thing! and do NOT want him propagating hatred on MY YAHOO! I use standard Yahoo! but I am a part of the Answers Community, and there is no place for it! Please Help before he strikes again. I have removed him as a contact so that he will not be alerted that I plan to blow the whistle,, but i did not Block him, because I have never blocked anyone. and if he wants to send me a third one, I want to forward it to staff as well, as soon as someone tells me how to do it. Thank You in advance for the help!

There are some people that just seem to know everything, and I can't figure out how they do it! Do they just read the newspaper everyday? If you guys know of any sites that help inform you about every day life, what are they? How does one go about attaining every the knowledge needed to be able to have an active discussion on any given topic? Thanks for any help, btw. Personal advice would be really helpful too!
